Echoes of the Garifuna Tour

A Journey Through History, Culture, and Heritage

📍Punta Gorda, Roatan (Honduras)

Step beyond the surface and immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the Garifuna people with our Echoes of the Garifuna Tour. This experience is designed for those who seek a deeper understanding of our history, culture, and traditions—beyond the typical drum circles and performances. As descendants of the first Garifuna community in Central America, we have spent years gathering knowledge from historians, travelers, and our own lived experiences. The echoes of our ancestors’ stories resonate through our journey, and we invite you to be part of this profound cultural exchange.

Tour Highlights

  • Scenic Community Landmark Stop - Your journey begins at a beautiful viewing deck in Punta Gorda, where we’ll introduce you to the origins and history of the Garifuna people in Roatan and Central America.

  • Caribbean/Garifuna Meal - Afterward, we’ll head to a Garifuna-owned restaurant to enjoy a traditional meal prepared with indigenous flavors and ingredients. You’ll also learn about the cultural artifacts and local exhibits displayed at the restaurant, gaining insight into daily Garifuna life, customs, and history.

  • Meaningful Conversations -Throughout the experience, we’ll share stories of our people’s past and present. While the tour is designed to be welcoming for all, those interested in deeper cultural conversations are encouraged to ask questions — we’re always open to going deeper for those who wish.
